We have some very exciting news to share with you!

YWAM Medical Ships has just acquired another ship for Papua New Guinea, the MV l’Astrolabe.

The 65 metre vessel has been serving in Antarctica as a scientific research vessel for the last number of years, and will soon be re-purposed as a medical and training ship for PNG. To think that this ship will go from breaking ice to working in the tropics helping to save lives and strengthen communities, quite amazing!

The MV l’Astrolable is currently making its way up to Townsville from Hobart, and is due to arrive on Friday.

The operations of the vessel will be a collaborative effort between YWAM teams in Norway, Kona – Hawaii, Townsville, Newcastle, New Zealand, Singapore and PNG.

This is an exciting expansion that will have a direct impact on thousands of lives. We thank you for the support that you’ve extended to YWAM Medical Ships that has helped lead us to this amazing milestone!

The MV l’Astrolabe (soon to be renamed the MV YWAM Liberty!) will be the fourth vessel to be deployed by YWAM Medical Ships into PNG.

The MV l’Astrolabe’s large cargo capacity and helideck will enable YWAM to deliver supplies and access even more remote areas via helicopter. Read more about YWAM’s newest medical ship!
