Seeds are wholesome, tasty and make a great addition to your diet. They are high in protein, low in fat and are easier to digest than nuts. So which are the most useful seeds to add to your diet?

Flax Seeds
Flax seeds help to promote heart health and can help lower cholesterol. They are also a good source of fibre. You can add them to salads, sprinkle them on cereal or granola and they may be ground or baked.

Chia Seeds
These are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, and aid in digestion. Chia seeds can be used in baking as a substitute for eggs, and make a great addition to trail mix.

Hemp Seeds
These seeds contain plenty of protein and calcium, and are high in essential fatty acids. Try sprinkling onto salads or adding to salad dressings. They can also be mixed into smoothies or added to raw chocolate recipes.

Sesame Seeds
Sesame seeds are full of antioxidants. They help to reduce cholesterol and are one of the best plant based sources of calcium. Sesame seeds are used to make tahini, however you can also add them to your salads, granola or trail mix.

Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds contain high amounts of protein as well as calcium, vitamin B, omega 3, zinc, iron and phosphorus. A great raw or toasted snack added to salads or soups.
