The Cowboys Leagues Club has marked donations of more than $8 million to charities and comunity groups in North Queensland since opening in 2001.

Chairman of the Cowboys Leagues Club Daryl Holmes said beneficiaries included charities, not-for-profit organisations, schools, community groups and worthy individuals.

“We have firm belief in striving to support the community that supports us in any way possible,” Mr Holmes said.

“From charities and not-for-profit organisations to suppliers, local businesses and employees, the club has a very strong commitment to the North Queensland community and beyond, and this commitment is an integral part of the club’s long-term future.”

Meanwhile, work on an expansion of the club is expected to be complete in June.

Mr Holmes said the expansion was a strategic move to help secure the club’s lond-term future, given the development of the CBD and the construction of the North Queensland Stadium.

“We are determined to play a part in the revitalisation of the Townsville CBD and these new facilities will certainly contribute to the local aconomy,” Mr Holmes said.

“In turn, by adding facilities and value for our members, it will allow us to continue our support to thr North Queensland Cowboys Football Club and the wider North Queensland community.”
