There are some restrictions for basic dental services so make sure to visit the Australian Governments website CLICK HERE

This service is means-tested and requires families to be receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A or a relevant Government Payment and have a current Medicare card, the easiest way to find out if your child qualifies for the CDBS is to access your Medicare account, either online at my.gov.au or you can call the Medicare General Enquiries line on 132 011.

Base eligibility criteria for CDBS is;

  • 2 to 17 years old for at least 1 day that year.
  • They must be eligible for Medicare
  • Either you or the child must receive an eligible payment at least once that year.

Using your $1,000

If your child is CDBS eligible make sure share this with your Dentist, they will be able to explain all probable expenses and get your consent before treatment even begins.

If any work is required after the initial consultation again the costs will be explained to you and your consent will be obtained. This means you are in control of your $1,000 and can use it however you choose over the two calendar years.

If you are unsure of your balance don’t hesitate to give your local practice a call. This will make sure you don’t incur any out of pocket expenses.
