Dr Daryl Holmes (Founder of 1300SMILES Limited) - 1987 BDSc (Honours) Qld
Dr. Holmes is the founder of 1300SMILES Limited and a qualified dentist having obtained his dental qualifications (BDSc (honours)) at Queensland University in 1987. During the last two years of his five year degree he accepted a scholarship from the Royal Australian Air Force.
Upon completion of his degree he practiced dentistry as an RAAF Dental Officer. Upon discharge from the RAAF in 1991 he began private dental practice in Ayr and Home Hill, north Queensland later that year. Since that time he has operated dental surgeries in the Burdekin region, Townsville, and Cairns.
Dr. Holmes has extensive experience in operating dental practices and an intimate knowledge of the management, administrative and other support services required in a dental practice. He has been instrumental in establishing the support network and suite of services that 1300SMILES Limited currently provides to its Dentists.
Dr Brian Cowie - B.D.S (Sydney)
1974 Qualified Bachelor of Dental Surgery
Dr Cowie is extensively experienced in all dentistry which a special interest in Endodontics.
He has monthly general anaesthetic sessions catering for children and routine dentistry for the nervous patient
Trained as a dentist within the Army (6 years), and many years in the Defence Reserves.
Owner and Principle Dentist of dental practice at Kirwan since 1978 before moving to Belgian Gardens 1300SMILES in February 2008
He lives with his wife Dianne on a 300 acre cattle property, running approx 100 breeding cows.
Dr John Kotaidis - B.D.S (Adelaide)
1985 Qualified Bachelor of Dental Surgery - Adelaide
Experienced in all facets of Dentistry with a Special Interest in Brite Smile bleaching, crown and bridge and implants
He is committed to providing the best possible treatments in a caring environment
John moved to Townsville 2007 from Adelaide, and in his words he “should have come sooner,
excellent weather, lovely town and friendly people”
Dr Catherine Griffiths - B.D.S (London) 
1986 Qualified Bachelor of Dental Surgery - London
Experienced in all aspects of general dental practice
She especially enjoying white fillings, crowns and improving a patients smile.
Dr Griffiths also has a particular interest in minor oral surgery and removing wisdom teeth and will soon be providing a facial aesthetic clinic in having 6 years experience of using wrinkle reducing injections in the UK
Dr Catherine moved to Townsville from the UK in 2009 with husband, son and daughter. “ We love Townsville, fabulous town and people and won’t be leaving”
She enjoys horse riding, seeing as much of Australia as possible, camping and rugby league, being a cowboys fan.
Dr Ahmed El-Sheek - B.D.S (Cairo)
2005 Qualified – Bachelor of Dental Medicine and Surgery Cairo
Special interest in Oral Surgery and Endodontics, Impacted wisdom teeth and Minor oral surgeries.
He has a passion for all facets of dentistry
Dr El-Sheek is loving Townsville and the “Australian Way Life” and he is looking forward to seeing more of the country. Ahmed also enjoys stargazing and internet blogging.
Dr Huy Nguyen - B.D.S (Sheffield)
2002 Dr Nguyen is committed to providing the highest standard of health care with a focus toward the ethical practice of general care.
His professional interests include, Prevention of disease, preservation of tooth structure, cosmetic fillings, root canal treatments and crown and bridge work.
Originally from Sheffield, Dr Huy and his wife are greatly enjoying the friendly and welcoming manner of the Townsville people. Dr Nguyen’s personal passions include philosophy, psychology, science, horticulture, music and keeping fit.
