YWAM Medical Ship: We Have Arrived!

The Ywam medical ship is a medical aid and floating clinic that has embarked on a mission to PNG to help the people there with live saving medical aid and assistance. They recently set sail for PNG and here is the latest update from the ship:

We have arrived! The YWAM Medical Ship arrived in the Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea on the weekend and just yesterday had a first full day of clinics. Without our prompting, the people of the Gulf had a fundraiser and made an appeal that if you want to see change happen in your province you have to invest. The coolest thing was a group of orphans from the Gulf who have been putting away a little bit of money since January gave a small gift to the ship ministry as they want change! We have been told by locals that the welcome that they put on for the ship in Kerema on the weekend was the biggest welcome they had seen; it certainly was bigger than any of our crew had ever seen.

Our partnership with the Cowboys is going over very well - one of the young guys was asked what team he supports. He said happily, "I have to support the Cowboys because they are helping us with the medical ship."

Governor Havila Kavo and his wife greeted the ship in Port Moresby and both were fitted for reading glasses in the onboard clinic. Our time in Port Moresby was wonderful and we received donations of fuel and medication.

Medical Coordinator, Hannah Peart reports, "All of our medical professional arrived safely. We have very strong teams for all three of the clinics with 20 trained professionals and a support staff of another 27 to run the ship and assist with the clinics. There is a genuine excitement growing among all the volunteers on board about the outreach and many are already falling in love with this nation."

You can track the YWAM Medical Ship's location and travels at www.marinetraffic.com (Choose Area: PACIFIC SOUTH and Vessel: PACIFIC LINK).
